Wow

I can't believe the stupidity of this article:

http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2009/06/obama-to-ummah-.html

Seriously? I can't believe there are Americans out there who think like this. Will post more on this article when I have time.

Update: a few "highlights" from the article:

The media can spin their subjugation and adulation a million different ways, but America did not vote for a "Muslim presidency," which is what this is.

Okay, when will people get that Obama is not a Muslim? I mean seriously, let's all move on. The article mentions that he quoted from the "Koran" three times. I don't really get why this is a problem, but apparently it is.

In his typically anti-semitic fashion, Obama came down very hard on the Jews in his speech today to the Muslim world.

This I just found funny. If anything, I think Obama made it clear that the US supports Israel OVER Palestine. Americans seem to be so used to their leaders bending over backwards to do anything for Israel that anyone who doesn't do this is labeled "anti-semitic". By the way for anyone interested in how much pressure American politicans face re. the Israel issue, "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy" is an excellent book.

I think the part where he compares Israelis with white supremacists to be most enlightening. Jews suffered under Hitler...."Palestinians" suffer under occupation. His perfect pronunciation of 'Koran' and assalaamu alaykum in the Arabic way is certainly code for his Muslim bonafides. "Peace be upon them all (the prophets)".

His pronounciation of those two words wasn't "perfect", as any Arabic speaker will tell you. And I knew the comment about the three Prophets would be a problem for some Americans the second I heard Obama say it.

"In Ankara, I made clear that America is not – and never will be – at war with Islam." Obama has promised. But what if Islam is at war with us? What if Islam attacks America again? What then?

Okay who exactly is "Islam"? How can a religion be at war with America? Oh wait, then again, the American government has declared war on abstract entities before, such as "terror".

As for all the examples the article enlightens us with, coudn't we "Muslims" come up with similar photos and happenings in the US? Of course. This is so ridiculous! I seriously didn't think people could be this stupid, and clearly there are many of them, as can be seen from the comments.

The scariest thing about this article is all the comments from people who agree :S

I know! On the same site you can find the full text of his speech, and I saw some of the comments and they were pretty shocking. I wonder what percentage of Americans (or Westerners?) think like this.

I had the same problem convincing the Xtians here that Obama ain't a Muslim and if he was one he would not have sworn into presidency using a BIBLE and in addition he would not be in Israel kissing some walls

the pics are below of him kissing walls:

That Pamela lady is crazies. Seriously. I like that one comment someone put:

"Wow

I think you're a little bit ... uh, what's the word ... delusional. Calm down a little. This is how rational people address problems. Let it play out - chances are good that the free world will survive this presidency.

I'm thinking you and your hotheaded-delusionals are more dangerous to freedom and democracy than anything Obama can bring.

Just my point of view - get back to the crazy.

:)"

Saafir: yeah it just doesn't make sense that he would have been sworn in using a Bible, but then again there are people who are convinced he used a Qur'an(!).

xoxo, Nadia: I agree, "Islam" (whatever that is) always seems to be attacking America. And this seems to justify Afghanistan, Iraq, and now Iran.

Aynur: LOL, I didn't see that comment, it's hilarious! My thoughts exactly!

Thanks for posting everyone!

Cairo, this is quickly becoming my favorite blog out there and I truly mean it!

When I first started my blog, I had a number of links to Jewish blogs, and really right-wing anti-Islam blogs that linked up to the Jewish ones.

Atlas Shrugs. I liked the name, that's for sure...But it was a blog I had to let go of in my links. Because like so many, it would often show a Muslimah in burka completely naked. Making fun of Islam. But, there wasn't much going on upstairs as you just proved. Bare-Naked Islam is another. Stop Shariah Now...the list goes on and on.

Cairo, I just wrote this comment to A Muslim Wife about Obama...

My opinion is that Obama has a single goal. Suck up and look friendly to the Muslim world, and then get what he wants out of them without giving anything in return expect empty speeches.

He wants the Palestinians and Jews to agree to divide themselves into two states. So what to do? Go to Egypt and seem like he's on Muslims side.

He has to go with popular opinion, and until he's re-elected, you can be sure that Gitmo will stay open. And beyond, because even Pelosi said she didn't know about torture, but she's fine with it. And so is Obama.

As Muslims, it is imperative that we look beyond the personality/Mr. Congeniality cult of a President. This is how it happened that in 2000, most Muslims voted for George W. Bush. And then we lost most everything after 9-11.

I read only a bit of the post but couldn't go on after reading the first line. Too much hatred and arrogance to give a damn. Not to mention the comments. Urgh.

There will always be people like this.

I read that comment that Aynur wrote about. It had me cracking up too. Very matter of fact and at the same time, light hearted.

She is indeed someone who clearly needs help, along with all those other people who suck up all her words.

Very interesting post you had here. Thanks for exposing one more crazy in this world. Now onto taking her website down ...LOL

Umm Omar: wow, those stations sounds horrible. I think the anti-Muslim tirade that came out during the Obama campaign (mostly from the right) really shocked people outside the US. We never knew so many Americans hated Muslims like that and thought such ridiculous things about Muslims. On top of that they felt it was okay for them to say these things on the radio and TV. I can't imagine how American Muslims felt at the time. I love your blog too! When I have kids (inshallah) I'll definitely do all those things you post about. They sounds so much more beneficial than the school system.

Lisa: good points! I agree that it is dangerous for minorities to not see behind the personality of a leader. Like you said, most Muslims voted for Bush. About Obama's aims, I agree that he can't do much for the Middle East. Even if he wants to, there are so many things in the US government system holding him back. Bush made me realize how little power a US president actually has. After all there's congress, the senate, etc. Even the popular vote during an election is not enough to win (Gore). I wonder if Obama will succeed in changing the behaviour of any Arab leader. I can't see the Saudi king or Egyptian president acting differently just because Obama made a pretty speech.
That link you posted was terrible...I can't believe that guy!
Thanks for posting and thanks for the compliment about the blog, it means a lot to me! Love you.

SirAdib: Ugh, you're right, there will always be people like this. The arrogance was definitely blinding. Thanks for posting!

xoxo, Nadia: the woman definitely needs help! I've stopped myself from looking at anything else on her site because I don't know if I could handle it. People like this really annoy me!

That link is pretty bad. Sister Safiyyah knows him from her days as a Jew and at times he can be nice and sincere. But, he also has a link to his other blog "Stop Raping Israel"....nice name, huh?

One time I tried to nicely tell him that I thought that God somehow wants different people to be different religions, and we should come together. He got really defensive, and said something about how I shouldn't try to compete with the one Jewish God, I mean the guy is looking and BEGGING for enemies...

I don't see Obama changing any behavior. Perhaps, he will show the royals that oil is limited, and drive them towards greener things like nuclear energy. All that will do is guarantee them more future jobs, and less future reasons to listen to the U.S. LOVE thse posts, keep em' coming sweetie. Love you lots.

Pamela is seriously crazy. I could never go to her site without throwing up my hands in absolute despair over the ignorance displayed therein. I will admit to being amused when her former fellow-traveler Charles (of Little Green Footballs fame) basically told Pam and her friends that he wasn't going along with their Muslim eliminationism anymore. That really shocked 'em.

Really, there are too many interesting blogs and websites out there to worry about Pam is saying.

America elected Obama, so I guess the majority do not think like that stupid article. I liked what I heard of his speech. I hope relations between America and the Muslim world improve. These attitudes do not help.

cairo, lusaka, amsterdam said...

Lisa: "stop raping Israel"...lol!! Is this guy serious? He's so confrontational. I don't think I should even try reading either of his blogs.

Mirele: I totally agree, there are a lot more interesting blogs out there! Although even if Pamela's blog was the only blog out there I don't think I'd be able to handle reading it!

Sarah: like you said I don't think the majority of Americans think like this. But a sizable amount do, which by itself is worrying.

Thanks for posting everyone!
